Expert tips
For indoor plants
- Always water at the base of the plant (avoid wetting the leaves).
- Never leave water in the saucer after watering.
- Always use the recommended amount when fertilizing. In winter, stop fertilizing or reduce the amount by half.
- Have you just repotted your plant? Stop fertilizing for the first few weeks to give the roots the time to establish.
- For orchids, cacti and succulents, opt for a specialized fertilizer, such as our Orchid Liquid Plant Food or Cactus Liquid Plant Food.
For outdoor plants
- Fertilize and water at soil level to avoid wetting the plant and to limit evaporation.
- For continuous flowering, fertilize annuals throughout the season, except during periods of extreme heat.
- Fertilize perennials and shrubs until July. The new growth will be ready to face winter.
FAQ
All you need to know for dazzling plants!
When should I fertilize my plant?
Fertilize your plant every time you water by adding 7 drops per litre of water. In winter, stop fertilizing or reduce the amount by half.
What do the letters N-P-K and the numbers on a fertilizer bag or box mean?
The numbers indicate the proportions of the three essential nutrients in a fertilizer formula: nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). Our 10-15-10 formula is a balanced formula for overall plant health.
10 (N – nitrogen): promotes foliage health and growth.
15 (P – phosphorus): supports root development and the production of flowers and fruit.
10 (K – potassium): helps grow stronger, more resilient plants.
Can I use all purpose plant food for orchids, cacti and succulents?
Orchids, cacti and succulents have very specific needs and our specialty orchid plant food and our specialty cactus plant food have been developed specially to offer them everything they need.
How can I tell if my plants are receiving the amount of fertilizer they need?
Our 7 drops formula ensures optimal fertilization for healthy and vigorous plants, both indoors and in the garden. Easy to measure, it provides the nutrients your plants need with precision.
What are the signs of insufficient fertilization?
A plant lacking fertilizer may exhibit stunted growth and smaller, yellow or pale green leaves. Its stems will be weak, and its flowering or fruit production will be poor or nonexistent. If you are providing the recommended amount of fertilizer, the cause of these symptoms must lie elsewhere (insufficient light, inadequate watering, disease, etc.).
How can you tell if a plant has received too much fertilizer?
A plant may be overfertilized if its leaves have brown (burnt-looking) or yellow tips, become deformed, fall off or wilt despite moist soil. However, these same symptoms can be caused by other problems (direct sunlight, insect infestation, etc.). With our 7 drops formula, the dosage is always precise.
