Step 5Water the lawn.

Expert tips

  • In spring, aerate the lawn so it can better absorb water and nutrients.
  • Never fertilize during periods of extreme heat, drought, on frozen ground or on a diseased lawn.
  • Do not apply to a new lawn (less than 2 years old), a newly seeded lawn or recently laid sod.
  • Water the lawn after fertilizing to help the fertilizer penetrate deeply. Save time by fertilizing just before rain!
  • Between fertilizer applications, water deeply once a week rather than superficially several times.
  • Always apply with a spreader at the recommended rate to avoid burning the lawn. The amount of fertilizer distributed by the spreader will be affected by your walking speed. Walk at a normal speed and maintain your pace for even coverage!

Security

Precautions

  • Avoid inhaling the dust. If inhaled, move the victim to fresh air.
  • Wash your hands after using the product.
  • Wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves and safety glasses when handling and applying the product.
  • In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly with clean water.
  • Do not apply near bodies of water, before heavy rain, or if the ground is frozen.

Storage and disposal

  • Store in original packaging in a dry place.
  • Close bag after use and keep out of reach of children and companion animals.
  • Recycle empty bag when possible, or discard with regular household garbage.

FAQ

All you need to know for a lush green lawn!

What happens if you put too much fertilizer on the lawn?

Too much fertilizer can burn your lawn. Do not apply more than the recommended amount. In case of accidental spillage, water thoroughly to minimize damage.

I didn't have time to fertilize my lawn in early spring. Can I fertilize it twice in summer?

Between fertilizer applications, it is recommended to wait 4 to 6 weeks. You can fertilize for the first time in late spring or early summer, but if it gets too hot afterwards, it is best to wait until the end of summer or the beginning of fall to fertilize.

My lawn is in bad shape. Can fertilizer help it?

Fertilizing will strengthen your lawn, but first you need to find and address the cause of the problem. Check for insects (white grubs, sod webworms, crane fly larvae) and treat as needed. If your lawn is overrun with weeds, remove them manually or use products specifically designed for this purpose. Seed to repair bare patches and be sure to fertilize three times during the season afterwards.
